Using Osmosis Document Search

Document Search

Did you know you can use Osmosis for more than flashcards and the question bank? There is one feature that is somewhat hidden, so I'm bringing it into the 'light.'

The feature I’m talking about is document search. For this feature to be most beneficial to everyone, curricular content must be uploaded to Osmosis. If this is done, Osmosis can give you a timeline where a specific term appeared in any document uploaded to the system all the way back to the beginning of the M1 year. For students, faculty, and staff, document search can help them identify where and how topics were presented to them over their time in medical school.

Try it out!

Where to find Document Search in Osmosis

This image shows what it looks like when the system locates a term in other documents uploaded to Osmosis.

How to locate document search

Here is another image showing you how to access document search. Note that this search does not work for every term in the curriculum but it is still pretty useful. In this image, note that you can click on any of the boxes in the timeline and Osmosis will present you with whatever document (PPTX, DOCX, etc.) had that term.

So as you can probably determine, it’s really crucial that relevant curricular documents are uploaded to Osmosis. If no documents are uploaded, the document search doesn’t work.
